Lip Fillers by Melissa Johnson MD, FACS
Lip Filler Injections add Fullness, Plump Thin Lips
Lip filler is used to add volume to your lips and to help correct the lines around the lips. As we age, our lips look thinner and drier. Other factors that make lips look less full are sun exposure, genetics, and smoking.
Injecting filler into the lips is an office procedure that takes less than 30 minutes to have done. Prior to the injections, ice can be applied to the lips as well as numbing cream (if desired) to help decrease the discomfort of the injections.
In our office, we provide hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm Volbella, Juvéderm Ultra, and Juvéderm Ultra Plus for the lips and lines around the lips. Hyaluronic acid fillers provide a smooth, predictable result with minimal side effects. The hyaluronic acid fillers last up to one year. Learn more.
After the procedure, you can expect swelling that can last 24-48 hours and bruising that can last 1-2 weeks. We recommend that you ice the lips as much as possible for the first 24-48 hours and avoid exertional activity for 24-48 hours. We ask that you avoid applying lipstick, makeup, or creams to the area for the first 24-48 hours after treatment.
Many doctors offering injectibles Certified ExpertInjectorthese days may be practicing outside of their area of specialty, which can put you at risk.
