Patients consult with Dr. Johnson regarding breast surgery for many reasons. Dr. Johnson performs a variety of aesthetic breast surgery procedures, including breast enhancement or augmentation with implants, breast lifts (mastopexy) or combined cases with breast augmentation and breast lift at the same time. Dr. Johnson uses both saline and silicone implants, including the new anatomic silicone implants from Allergan and Sientra.
Other patients seek breast contouring or breast reduction procedures due to back pain or other issues related to having large breasts. Dr. Johnson also performs reconstructive breast surgery for breast cancer patients. She does both immediate reconstruction at the time of mastectomy as well as delayed reconstruction options. Breast surgery considerations
When you choose to consult with a Plastic Surgeon regarding your breast surgery needs, be sure to find a surgeon that is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
For women with small or uneven breasts who desire a fuller and firmer appearance, breast augmentation can help. Breast implants are used to achieve a more proportioned look. There are both saline and silicone filled implants available and they come in a variety of different styles and shapes, such as round, anatomic, smooth and textured. Breast lift can raise and reshape sagging breasts.
Large breasts can cause significant physical discomfort such as back, neck, and shoulder pain. Breast reduction will alleviate these symptoms and can help you feel better about your shape and about wearing a variety of clothing styles. Reducing the size of your breasts will also facilitate your ability to be more physically active.
Throughout life, our bodies undergo many changes. The effects of aging, pregnancy, or weight changes can negatively affect the appearance of your breasts. A breast lift, or mastopexy, can lift your breasts and help return them to their youthful shape. This procedure is often combined with a breast augmentation to provide fullness to the upper breast
For men with enlarged male breasts Gynecomastia surgery removes the excess fat and glandular tissue from your breasts. In severe cases, excess skin may need to be removed also. The true cause of gynecomastia is unknown, but may be a cause of hormonal changes, heredity, disease, or the use of certain drugs.
